MVR-based Water Purification Systems

Water is no longer just a utility - it is a strategic resource for industrial operations. Rising water scarcity, stricter environmental regulations and growing sustainability requirements are changing how water is sourced, treated and reused. Bosch supports this transformation with compact systems based on mechanical vapor recompression (MVR): industrial water recycling and high-purity water production from challenging water sources - electrically driven, fully automated, up to 3 m³/h feed per unit.

Beyond Conventional Water Treatment

Different water sources call for different treatment technologies. Reverse osmosis (RO) is the preferred solution for many applications - and where membrane technology reaches its limits, mechanical vapor recompression extends the treatment range. MVR recovers high-quality water from streams that membranes struggle with: seawater, RO reject, cooling water blowdown and industrial wastewater. The result is a flexible technology platform, from ultrapure water production for electrolysis to industrial water recovery and reuse - complementing your existing RO, not replacing it.

Tag

One technology platform. Multiple applications.

Whether producing ultrapure water for electrolysis or recovering valuable water from industrial streams, BMG delivers tailored systems that maximize water recovery, reduce freshwater demand and improve operational resilience.

Addressing your key water challenges

Reduce freshwater consumption

Recover up to 90 % of the feed as reusable water and cut dependence on scarce freshwater resources.

Increase water resilience

Secure stable operation even with challenging or variable water sources - the system is tested on your real water before any commitment.

Support regulatory compliance

Meet tightening discharge and reuse requirements: concentrating effluent is increasingly part of standard compliance planning, in India and in Europe.

Improve resource efficiency

Recover valuable water from process streams instead of disposing of it as wastewater - at < 35 kWh per m³ of purified water.

Reliable industrial performance

Electrically driven, fully automated (PLC), remote diagnostics included - designed for demanding industrial environments.

Tailored to your application

One platform, configured per water source and target quality - from ultrapure production to industrial reuse.

Frequently asked questions

What is mechanical vapor recompression (MVR)?

MVR separates water by evaporation and reuses the mechanically recompressed vapor as the heat source. That is why it typically needs only a fraction of the energy of single-effect evaporation - below 35 kWh per m³ of purified water.

How is MVR different from reverse osmosis?

RO is the right choice for many applications. MVR takes over where membranes reach their limits: high-TDS, scaling or otherwise difficult streams - including concentrating the reject of an existing RO. There is no membrane to foul or rupture, and a thermal system restarts clean after standstill.

What utilities does the system need?

Electricity only - 3 × 415 V, 50 Hz. No external steam and no fuel. The system installs as one compact skid without major civil works.

How do we find out if it fits our water?

Start with a feasibility review, or send us 2 liters of your stream. You receive achievable condensate quality, concentration factor and an energy estimate - typically within 2–3 weeks.
